For the Love of Murry

Murry is our very loveable Basset. We rescued him from the North Texas Basset Rescue almost three years ago. Murry's precious face has one expression. If he's happy then his tail is wagging, and his face is droopy. If he is sleepy he yawns, and his face is droopy. When he wants something, again, adorably droopy. He has the softest sable red and white fur. With long ears always dragging, his deep brown eyes are always bright and adoring.

When our family received this wonderful blessing of a pet, we did not realize how great it is to have just one person that feels you can never do wrong. His goal in life is to love you. Not many people realize that Bassets are actually a large breed of dog. Their squatty legs and huge paws make them seem smaller. Well Murry is a total lap dog. He wants to curl up right on top of you to make you feel all warm and fuzzy.

Murry's Doggymentary:  Last week as we were coming home from church we walked in the door to Murry crying. Murry usually greets each one of us at the door. His crying signals me that he has done something he knows is wrong while we were gone. My boys noticed that the Target bag of goodies I had placed high on the table was on the floor. The lotions I had bought for our homeschool co-op were laying beside the bag. I quickly picked it up and realized that some how Murry had surfed up on the table and snatched them. All was in tact and ok. Then I noticed the two bags of candy kisses were missing. Now most of us know that chocolate is poisonous to pups. So we sent out a search party over the house to locate the missing bags. Fully expecting to find them broken into and the candy demolished, we looked high and low. There under the covers in my bed was buried one slobbery bag. (Not opened just buried with a pile of covers on top.)  The other deep down in my laundry pile in the living room. Murry had thought he would carry them to a safe spot to hide them and try to open them later. The sneak!!! Thankfully he and the candy were safe.
